Blueberry

The “Sunshine Blue” highbush blueberry is a semi-dwarf evergreen blueberry featuring a highly branched compact habit to 3 feet tall. The showy hot pink flowers fade to white in spring, yielding large crops of medium sized, delicious blueberries with a unique tangy flavour for up to 9 weeks in the summer. Sunshine Blue tolerates higher pH soils better than other blueberries. It is also one of the very few varieties to be self fertile so you only need 1 plant. Very suitable for small gardens and patios.

Acidify your soil

Blueberries are known for their love of acidic soils, preferring a pH level of 4.8 to 5.5. If you’re discouraged from growing blueberries because of chalky or alkaline soil, take heart. Your soil can be altered both before and after planting to create and maintain the low pH level blueberries prefer. Before you purchase soil amendments — sulfur commonly used for acidifying soil — conduct a soil test to determine how much you’ll need to alter your soil. For more info visit Acidify your soil
