Ptilotus Joey

The Ptilotus Joey, also known as the Ptilotus exaltatus or Mulla Mulla, is a perennial plant with large, conical spikes of feathery flowers that are well-suited for gardens and mixed containers:

  • Flowers: The flowers are long-lasting and start out silver before maturing to a neon pink color near the tips.
  • Leaves: The plant has thick, green leaves with a silver overcast.
  • Size: The plant can grow up to 14 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide.
  • Maintenance: The plant is low maintenance and has low water needs.
  • Climate: The plant is heat and drought tolerant, making it a good choice for hot, dry climates. The plant can tolerate USDA zone 9
  • Soil: The plant prefers dry, rocky, sandy, or sloped soil.
  • Frost: Younger plants should be protected from heavy frost.
  • The Ptilotus Joey is native to Australia and is named after a baby kangaroo.
